Airplanes and Trains

Clickity Clack
This "train" had lots of adventures including playing in the snow and eating lollipops.

Meanwhile, Porsche was quickly filling a purse with all the train pieces.

Off on more adventures- two firemen this time!

Our little engineers were so excited to share books about trains for storytime. After they colored their hats they got to write in their journals. I had them tell me a story about a train that I then wrote in their journals. Here is Porsche's story that she told me (complete with a soft storyteller voice), "The choo choo train jumped on the tracks to get some flowers. The train got broke and then they looked out the windows at all the pretty flowers."

Not only did the chairs become a train but the tables became tunnels for little boy and girl trains to climb through. These children are sooo creative!

Up, Up, and Away!

The kitchen became an airplane cockpit with not one but four pilots!

Yeah! We know our ABC's

The boys alternated between having "tea time" with Sierra and running off and playing soccer

It's Autumn Time!

It's officially fall and we officially had a great week at preschool. The children searched for signs of fall, read about a silly squirrel named Earl, counted leaves, made place mats for snack time, gathered nuts, learned about catina cat- our zoophonics letter c, played, played and played some more, ran, jumped and hid under mounds of our own fall leaves. Welcome fall!
Kyler knows his colors so well and we all know his favorite is orange!

It may not have felt like fall outside, but inside we had lots of fun with our "leaves". They blew in the wind (thanks to a fan), got raked up and then of course jumped in.

Each student has started a journal where we capture some events of preschool. This week we included leaves we collected and our favorite fall colors.

Snuggly Storytime!

Porsche is our resident cookie baker.

Boston and Kyler counting colors

Gideon loves puzzles and is getting quite good at figuring them out.

Scampering squirrels came to preschool on Thursday. The children were more than happy to help them with their burrowing and seed hiding (one squirrel must already be hibernating inside).

Squirrels popping out of their burrows.
The children are really finding their rhythm and are getting along and working hard at sharing (something that is extremely difficult for three year olds). I'm constantly amazed at how much your children already know. Thank you for sharing them with me!

Butterflies & Bullfrogs

Butterflies were fluttering all about on Tuesday. The children learned about the life cycle of a butterfly and were great at acting it out (sorry I didn't get any pictures but trust me they were the cutest little caterpillars ever). We also reviewed letter a (allie alligator) and learned about our b friend, bubba bear.

Porsche immediately claimed the butterfly wings and spent a lot of the day flying about.

Sierra loves singing and the finger play/flannel board song about five adventurous butterflies was great fun for her.
Porsche very meticulously crafted her butterfly to fit into it's cocoon.
And onto Thursday and our little bullfrogs!

Searching the pond for bullfrogs. No luck finding frogs but we did see lots of fish.

The children have been fabulous at clean up time. I'm so impressed also with how well they share the toys and get along with one another.

Boston has been waiting so patiently to play all the hand bells. He and Kyler were having so much fun making loud music. This is the only shot I got of them that wasn't blurry by all their dancing.

Kyler working hard at fine tuning his fine motor skills and expressing his creativity.
Boston so happy with his swamp painting

They were all so quiet and focused while painting their "pond pictures". When they bring the (now all dried) pictures home the best thing to say is, "Tell me about your pictures." You may discover your little one has put some tremendous thought into that one creation.
Your children have been magnificent! It is truly a privilege to teach them and spend time with them each week.

Welcome Week

We've had a wonderful week- here are a few glimpses into our preschool time. I hope your children have enjoyed it as much as I have. I can't wait for this next week to learn more about our school namesake- butterflies & bullfrogs.
We do much more than I photograph as often I'm teaching, helping the children or the camera isn't quite handy. Also, I should put in a disclaimer that I'm not a great photographer and I'd rather spend time planning a great preschool than editing the pictures.

Thinking about eating those eggs or drawing with them???

So many colors to choose from!

They boogied themselves to sleep (for just a moment then they were back up dancing).

Porsche loved playing in the kitchen and made lots of cookies for everyone.

Kyler couldn't get enough block building! His tower got soooo tall.

First Day!

Welcome to Preschool!
